Meet the veteran and military-connected artists taking the stage for Unsung Hero 2026.
Schaefer Mueller
A Virginia native who left home for the Army, Schaefer served as a Combat Veteran with the 4th Brigade Combat Team (Airborne), 25th Infantry Division — specializing in explosives, mountaineering, and Airborne operations, and deploying to Afghanistan as an attachment to an ODA team. After the Army, he began booking shows in local bars and building a loyal following that's grown into regional tours. He's a full-time musician and member of the Texas Country Music Association and Nashville Songwriters, and also works as a scientist and researcher at LSU Health.

Rachel Harvey Hill
A Nashville-based songwriter whose style has been called “heart-warming” and “imaginative,” Rachel's multi-genre catalog is shaped by her strong faith, her life as a military spouse, and her journey of motherhood. She's a Bluebird Cafe “Golden Pick” winner, a Nashville Songwriters Association International “Ones to Watch,” and the 2019 New England Songwriters Competition pop/rock winner for “Like Lightning.” As an Operation Encore artist, she regularly tours the U.S. performing for veteran and military causes.

JB Brown
A Southern California native, JB blends heartfelt storytelling with a rock ‘n’ roll edge. A proud U.S. Marine Corps veteran, he served 12 years before retiring due to combat-related injuries sustained in Iraq. After starting out in the Los Angeles rock scene, he followed his passion for country music and has since earned more than 80 million streams worldwide — his resilience and authenticity shining through in every raw, heartfelt song.
